Once again, I am pleased to announce that Loudoun County will partner with America’s Charities for this year’s employee giving campaign. America’s Charities provides opportunities to contribute to any tax-exempt, nonprofit organization. Through a convenient payroll deduction or a one-time contribution, America’s Charities will disburse the funds that employees donate to their chosen charities.  You can donate to any nonprofit organization that is already in their database or you can simply write in a charity. 

The fall 2016 employee giving campaign runs October 24 to November 11.  With just a few dollars per pay check, employees can make a difference their neighborhoods, community, and world. If you have never given before, I encourage you to consider even $1 or $2 per pay check. If you have participated in the past, consider increasing your donation. 

Do you know how far your money will go? At one charity, for example, $1 will send up to four bowls of food to a child in one of 18 countries; $35/month will support a child’s school tuition, books, meals, and medical care; and $400 will provide a brand-new, energy-efficient cookstove for a family.

Less than 2% of employees participated in the program last year; together, they pledged almost $29,000. This year, let’s see if Loudoun County employees can join together to increase our participation in the giving campaign to at least 4% of employees.

In addition, campaign Co-Chairs Gwen Kennedy and Glen Barbour will continue to provide more information to you as needed. You may also contact your departmental liaison, whose name is listed online, for instructions on how to participate.
